Stephen Chan finally breaks silence – Mona Fong closest person to him in the world

March 11th of this year, TVB General Manager Stephen Chan and 4 other people were arrested by the ICAC for a corruption case, shocking the entire entertainment circle. It has been almost 100 days since the incident, he finally broke the silence and accepted an exclusive interview from Oriental Daily. He recalls the ups and downs during his arrest and his “delicate” relationship with Mona Fong.

Before the incident, Stephen held a high position in TVB, capable of doing anything he wanted and also had “6th aunt” Mona Fong’s trust and love. But after the incident, he lost everything. It was reported that TVB reported him to the ICAC and even “6th aunt” know about the whole issue. You can say, he really hit rock bottom in life. Stephen said: “This incident was not when I hit rock bottom in life. At this moment and even in the future, to me, the greatest down time in life was when my parents passed away. My parents were the greatest influence in life.”

Stephen said: “My parents aren’t around anymore. If I were to write down a friend, who would it be? Would they like you to put their name down? I really couldn’t think of anyone. Positive vs Negative

“Actually up until now, I don’t feel that this incident was a setback, just treat it as one of my life experiences. I don’t feel that the sky fell on me. I always carry faith with me and remind myself that there are two types of friends that I will encounter at work. The first kind are friends who just have contact with you in work and the other kind are close friends. They are here because of friendship and if not, then they won’t contact you again. I always remind myself, if not when you fall in life, it will be really hard to bear. Not retired yet, I remind myself of retirement, not dead yet, I remind myself of death. This is not negative, I am viewing it as very negative. When you fall in life, then you won’t feel its hard to bear, then is it still that I went from loved by thousands to loved by no one? Not really, actually I feel that the world has love. When the ICAC called, I saw many people sending me comforting text messages. When I’m out on the street, many citizens would express their support, I am very touched.”

Stephen has always been emotional, after the incident he once cried, but he strongly stressed that he was just touched to tears: “Feeling the support and concern from friends, of course there are people who I’m really close with to people who I don’t know at all, I am very grateful.”

Pempengco was born in Cabuyao, Laguna, Philippines. She and her younger brother, Carl, were raised solely by their mother, Raquel Pempengco (née Relucio), after they left their father due to domestic violence. To help support the family, she began competing in amateur singing contests at age seven, from town fiestas in
